Encaustic Virgin; The Love Affair Begins

Wow. This is one new (for me) and very different painting medium! I knew that hot wax might be a little messy and I liked that potential, with all of those happy accidents and stream of conciousness tangients that are perfect beginnings.

Now, I realize that I am not only dealing with hot wax, but also cooling or crusting wax clumps therein, heated and thereby cooling surfaces, and also heated and thereby cooling brushes! Imagine all of the variances, which are exciting and fun, yet also just plain, "WUT?" I feel so out of control. I don't mind losing control in art, if I know that I can one day assume control when needed.

With encaustic though, so far, I am totally blind-sided. Kind of like falling in love...
